Ian Flett

Trusted Land Planning and Municipal Law Lawyer in Toronto

Ian Flett's practice in Municipal and Land Use Planning law has consistently earned the firm a place on Novae Res Urbis' list of Top Twenty Planning and Development Law Firms in Toronto. He has represented many residents associations, community groups and developers at the Ontario Land Tribunal and Toronto Local Appeal Body. He also practices general administrative law. Ian has appeared before Ontario's Environmental Review Tribunal, License Appeal Tribunal, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Appeal Tribunal and in the criminal courts.

Ian studied Common Law at the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned his Juris Doctor and was awarded the Sam Beke Prize in Clinical Law. He also studied Civil Law at the University of Ottawa and clerked at Canada's Federal Court. He was called to the Bar in 2010. In 2015, he completed Harvard Law School's Program on Negotiation.

Prior to law school, Ian enjoyed a decade long career as a radio and television broadcaster-journalist with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). Before that he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Fine Arts at Concordia University in Montreal. He was born in Winnipeg and has lived across Canada and in France. He is fluently bilingual.
